Renew my skin with Vichy LiftActiv – Final Update

Renew my skin with Vichy LiftActiv - Final Update

It’s been a month since I started subjecting my skin to a new moisturising routine with Vichy LiftActiv in collaboration with Beauty Bulletin. And oh my word, my skin is now definitely thanking me for it!

Let’s recap quickly. I was sent the following products to try out: LiftActiv Serum 10 Supreme, LiftActiv Supreme Day, LiftActiv Night Supreme and the LiftActiv Advanced Filler. Areas on my face that I wanted to address were dark circles around the eyes, fine lines, signs of fatigue and possible dehydration.

My routine comprises washing and toning my face, after which I proceed to apply one drop of the Serum 10 Supreme and lightly massage it into my skin. I follow this by applying a little of the Advanced Filler, concentrating it around my eyes. Lastly I apply the Supreme Day cream and massage it into my skin. At night I follow the same routine except that I finish it off with the Night Supreme Creme.

How has my skin fared?

1 month final update

With regards to addressing dehydration, I’m giving this new routine a 10/10. I don’t think my skin has ever felt this moisturised using any other products. My skin stays hydrated throughout the day as well as when I wake up in the morning and it never feels tight. In addition my skin is definitely brighter, which fights any signs of fatigue. I don’t have any fine lines around my eyes yet, but I’ll continue to use the the products, especially the filler and I’ll keep an eye (pun intended) on that sensitive area. My skin also feels much firmer.

Generally, I love the fact that friends and family have commented on my rather youthful glow of late.

Okay, I know I’m wearing makeup in the final update pictures, but I wanted to end of this series of posts looking absolutely fabulous and I do think the results are entirely visible, even through the makeup.

Unfortunately the new regime has not done anything to improve the dark circles under my eyes, so I suppose I’ll have to come up with another solution to address this concern as it’s quite a big one.

I’m going to end off by saying that I really hoped you enjoyed coming along on this journey with me as much as I have.

I have to say that am pleasantly surprised by new routine. Not only does my skin remain hydrated and moisturised, but it’s definitely firmer and smoother as well. What I love the most is how much brighter my skin is. Even my sister commented on how good my skin is looking lately, so I’m really happy that there’s been a marked difference.

As we move into Autumn the Johannesburg air is getting drier so I’m excited to be able to use these products at just the right time of year.

Renew my skin with Vichy LiftActiv

eleanorjadore - renew my skin with vichy liftactiv

Over the next month my skin’s moisturising routine is getting a complete overhaul as I’m collaborating with Beauty Bulletin and Vichy to put their LiftActiv Supreme skin care products to the test. It’s only recently that I was on the hunt for a new skin care regime so I was delighted when I was invited to try this range. Now usually I’m quite the naturalist when it comes to both skin and hair care, but after reading up a little about Vichy I was willing to temporarily put my minimalist clay and oil cleansing routine to the side and experiment to investigate some bold claims Vichy are making with LiftActiv Supreme.

In case you don’t know, Vichy is a premium French brand of skin care, body care, make-up and anti-ageing products and was founded in 1931. One of their unique features is that they only use thermal spa water from the hot springs of the town Vichy in France in their formulations, which is a bonus for someone like me who likes their products to contain at least a measure of natural ingredients.

One of their studies shows that women’s skin is not only affected by ageing in the long term, but day to day as well, referred to as over-day ageing. The study further shows that young skin needs 6 hours to relaunch its repair functions, while older skin needs 30 hours. The result of incomplete recovery for older skin could be the accumulation of the signs of ageing. The signs are: wrinkles, fine lines, firmness, elasticity, plumpness, dull complexion, uneven complexion, drawn features, signs of fatigue and dehydration. Also suitable for sensitive skin, LiftActiv Supreme was created to specifically combat both these immediate and long term signs of ageing.

Here are the 4 Vichy LiftActiv products I’ll be testing over the next month:

LiftActiv Serum 10 Supreme

eleanorjadore - renew my skin with vichy liftactiv eleanorjadore - renew my skin with vichy liftactiv

LiftActiv Serum 10 Supreme targets 10 signs of ageing whilst accelerating surface skin cell renewal. Vichy has formulated two powerful ingredients to accelerate skin regeneration – Rhamnose of vegetal origin and Fragmented Hyaluronic Acid. The new Serum 10 Supreme formula allows twice as much Rhamnose to penetrate into the living layers of the skin, leaving it looking firmer and with reduced wrinkles.

LiftActiv Supreme Day

The signs of ageing can appear to intensify over the day and over time this can alter the skin’s youthful look. Vichy LiftActiv Supreme is Vichy’s everyday moisturiser with a unique formula to boost radiance, make wrinkles look smoother and skin feel firmer.

LiftActiv Night Supreme

eleanorjadore - renew my skin with vichy liftactiv eleanorjadore - renew my skin with vichy liftactiv

Vichy LiftActiv Night Supreme is for women who want complete action against even the deepest wrinkles. It reduces the appearance of wrinkles and helps to boost skin’s firmness and restores youthfulness as you sleep. I love the sound of that: it will just do the work while I sleep!

LiftActiv Advanced Filler

Vichy combines two powerful active ingredients renowned for their anti-wrinkle action: Pure Retinol and LR2412, to improve the appearance of wrinkles. Suitable for all skin types, it promises that skin will appear smoother and facial features will look refreshed.

My areas of concern

Being in my 30’s, I have definitely noticed some of the signs of ageing. My specific areas of concern are wrinkles and dark circles around the eyes, fine lines, signs of fatigue and possible dehydration. So I’m really hoping the Vichy LiftActiv products will address these problems for me.

Initial Thoughts

This is my skin having used the products for only a couple of days. Over the course of the next few weeks I’ll regularly take photos and compare my skin’s (hopeful) progress to this one.

eleanorjadore - renew my skin with vichy liftactiv

I’ve been using all four products for the last couple of days and although I haven’t noticed visible signs of improvement yet, my skin definitely does feel extremely moisturised and nourished from morning to night without ever feeling oily or greasy. When it wake up in the morning my skin doesn’t feel as dry as it often does. I’m not sure if I’m imagining it, but it does feel slightly firmer as well. In fact I just want to keep on touching my face and I have to remind myself not to do it. I also love how easily the products absorb into my skin, while leaving a brightening effect.

Urban Decay launching in South Africa

Right, so by now most of you who are makeup fanatics know that Urban Decay is about to launch in South Africa. I don’t write about makeup too often, but I do enjoy wearing it and my love affair for it has been growing steadily over the past year or so and I love experimenting with it. Blame it on watching too many YouTube tutorials, but one of the brands that I’ve been coveting for a while has been the Urban Decay Naked 3 palette. In case you don’t know what I’m talking about, it’s a  rose gold toned palette that includes 12 eyeshadows – 3 matte shades, 3 satin shades and 6 shimmer shades. And it’s absolutely stunning.

So when my family from the UK came to visit over the Christmas period, this palette and some of their make up brushes were high up on my gift wish list. I couldn’t have been more elated when I received my goodies, opened the package and saw the beautiful rose gold packaging stare up at me.

Now, the reason I’m so in love with this palette is because all the shades are really pretty and romantic. And what can I say, the rose gold theme really speaks to my femininity. My foray into the world of eye shadows has always been quite reserved but when I realised the ultra prettiness of this palette, I just knew I had to have it.

The look I created with my Urban Decay Naked 3 palette over the weekend

So now for the good news: Urban Decay is coming to South Africa and from what I’ve been able to gather it looks like it will be available from May, possibly in Edgars or Stuttaford stores. I have no idea what the price point will be, but for the hard-core Naked palette fans, I imagine it won’t be an issue.

There are 3 Naked Eyeshadow palettes in total and I would love to get my hands on the first two as well! Here they are:

Aren’t they just stunning? Who ever said neutrals have to be boring?

I see myself trying out loads of different looks with this here beauty. What do you say Girls? Are you a fan of Urban Decay cosmetics and will you making a purchase or 2  (or 10) when they launch in South Africa?

Chic Chick Natural and Ayurvedic Hair and Skin Care Product Giveaway!

Eleanor J'adore - Chic Chick Product Giveaway

Ever since moving back to South Africa I’ve really been struggling with dry skin, so I couldn’t have been any  happier when Chic Chick contacted me and asked if I’d like to try out some of their skin and hair products along with doing a giveaway. I immediately hopped online to see what they’re all about and since you know I love all things natural I was over the moon when I discovered that they refer to themselves as a new generation hair and skin care company, supplying natural and Ayurvedic products for all hair and skin types, including powders such as henna and indigo. I had the opportunity to try a range of products. Some I fell in love with, others not so much and I’ll tell you why. But make sure you read to the end as I have a fabulous giveaway to the value of R1 300 that you don’t want to miss out on.

Fresh Chocolat Facial Cleansing Powder

Eleanor J'adore - Chic Chick Product Giveaway

I’m starting off with probably my favourite product I was given to try: a rich, luxurious cleanser that you activate with a bit of water, promising to gently cleanse, eliminate toxins and softly even skin tone. The cleanser consists of a range of natural powders, the most notable being cocoa shell powder and bentonite clay, that you mix with water to create a paste and then apply to your face. You can use it as an everyday cleanser or a mask, depending on how long you leave it on for.

I adore how this product makes my skin feel after each use: soft, moisturised and without any tightness. I especially love using it in the mornings as a mask while I sit and relax in the bath. The faint smell of chocolate is an added bonus.

Rose Water

Eleanor J'adore - Chic Chick Product Giveaway

If you’ve ever wanted to use a 100% all natural toner without any alcohol, consider giving rose water a try. I love to spritz a little on my face after I’ve cleansed it to prepare my skin for moisturising. You’ll love the distinct smell of roses you’ll get when applying this to your face, while it tones, balances and refreshes your skin. According to the site it’s perfect for all skin types as it maintains the pH balance and stimulates the regenerating process. It can also be used as a moisturising tonic on natural hair.

Rosehip Oil

Eleanor J'adore - Chic Chick Product Giveaway

This is without a doubt the most luxurious oil I have ever used on my skin. If you’ve never heard of rosehip oil, don’t despair – I was only just introduced to it as well. My usual moisturising regime consisted only of applying coconut oil to my damp skin, but it hasn’t been working so well for me lately. Hence the introduction of rosehip oil. I apply it after my moisturiser by dropping 5 drops into my hand and gently pressing it into my skin. It leaves my skin moisturised, supple and feeling quite firm. If I’ve dispensed too much oil I’ll massage the leftover into my nails and cuticles. I also love that the bottle comes with a handy dropper to make application easier.

Coffee Bar – Hair Booster Mask

Eleanor J'adore - Chic Chick Product Giveaway

I haven’t had such mixed feelings about a product in a long time, but this hair booster mask certainly calls for it. You apply it to your hair after placing the little hearts into a container, pouring warm water over it and allowing it to melt and then mixing it into a thick yoghurt-like paste. While my hair has never been softer and my curls have never popped as much as it did after this application, I’ve also never struggled to get a product out of my hair like this before. It took about 5 washes over 3 days to get the last of the clay out of my hair.

The ingredients are absolutely amazing: Acacia Concinna (Shikakai)Powder, Cocoa Butter(Theobrama Cacao), Shea Butter, Inca Inchi, Thyme Powder,  Emblica Officinalis (Amla) Powder, Sea Moss Extract, Bacopa Monniera (Brahmi) Powder, Eclipta Alba (Bhringraj) Powder, Trigonella Foenum Graecum Extract, Vitamin E(Tocopherol). So I’d definitely try it again, but I’ll probably chat to the owner of the company for some advice on how not to let the product stay stuck in my curls for days on end.

Raw Honey

Eleanor J'adore - Chic Chick Product Giveaway

I haven’t actually used this honey yet as I still have another container on the go and I’d like to finish that one first, but I love the fact that they stock 100% raw honey, perfect to use as a mask for both hair and skin.

Rhassoul Clay

Eleanor J'adore - Chic Chick Product Giveaway

I haven’t gotten around to try the Rhassoul clay either, although it’s definitely one of my next products to try. I’ve heard too many good things about it to not give it a go. Again, it’s perfect for hair and skin and I’m going to fully review this clay in the near future, so keep an eye out for it.

Overall, I’m really impressed with the website as each product has usage directions explaining in detail how to use it as well as  a comprehensive list of the ingredients. I’ll definitely be purchasing from them again.
